At the south end of the lower promenade on Longsands
beach lie two beautiful Nordic-inspired wood昀椀re saunas,
Steam and Salt. As you heat up and wind down, take in the
views across the Blue Flag beach loved by surfers to the
North Sea beyond. To cool off between gentle rounds of 10
to 20 minutes in the heat, opt for the cold showers nearby
rather than the somewhat tumultuous sea.

Getting there: From central Newcastle, the 306 bus from
Haymarket will get you to the beach in just under an hour.
Alternatively, take the yellow line metro to Tynemouth and
walk to the shoreline in about 15 minutes.

Situated on the most westerly tip of North Wales in an
Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, sits Sauna Môr. This
traditional Finnish-style off-grid sauna looks out onto
the mighty Irish Sea, offering windswept beauty and wild

Getting there: Reach the sauna from the car park at Porth
Y Swnt’s visitor centre. Or take the 17/17B bus from
Pwllheli to Aberdaron and walk to the beach.

the Lake District? La’al Sauna, located on the east side of
Coniston Water at Bank Ground Farm, was the 昀椀rst Nordicinspired sauna in the national park and has views across to
the Old Man of Coniston. Pick from two wood-昀椀red saunas
and use the ladder to dip in the iconic lake in between rounds.

hot and cold therapy. Choose from the smaller six-toeight people saunas or the larger option for up to 18. Cool

Getting there: Soul Water Sauna is next to Granton Beach
by The Pitt street food market. It’s easily reached by bus
from Edinburgh City Centre (numbers 8, 14, 16, 24, 27,
X29, 47 and 113).
Getting there: Bank Ground Farm is around a 20-minute drive
from Ambleside. You’ll 昀椀nd the sauna by the farmhouse, with
jetties to access the lake.
