Is wellbeing travel set to continue growing?
It’s really booming – there are now so many more
options available than when we 昀椀rst started. At that
time, there were very few dedicated retreat venues.
Now there are lots of fantastic places offering these
kinds of experiences and a big enough market for many
to thrive alongside each other.
How do you stay centred and calm?
By being out in nature. I run and I wild swim, and I
recently completed a 50 km ultra. I swim all year round,
whatever the weather. Being in the water is one of
the most calming things I’ve ever experienced. I also
practise yoga, which is a key part of my wellbeing. But
the biggest part for me is getting out into blue and
green spaces – either on my own, or with my husband,
family or friends.
Most memorable moments from the retreats?
Usually the conversations around the dinner table,
where guests from all walks of life and different ages
come together to share their stories. By the 昀椀nal night,
everyone has opened up, and the laughter that 昀椀lls the
room is really special.
There’s also a particular waterfall we visit in the Lake
District which is invariably a standout moment. People
get in and become like children again, playing in the
water, sliding down the rocks, and often begging to
stay just a few more minutes when it’s time to go. It’s
incredible to see them so happy and free, at ease in
their bodies and themselves.
