this well-established North East event close to
Whitley Bay’s famous Spanish City.
Look out for tasty burgers from Fat Hippo, duck
wraps from Hatch 76, Simply Cheesecake and
the Brownie Bar.

Best for: All things liquorice! A market full of tasty
treats and quirky gifts
ROCK OYSTER FESTIVAL
This is a great family event with an extensive
market, art workshops and live music. Follow the
festival trail to savour the liquorice in food and drink
in participating restaurants and cafes.

Near Rock, Cornwall
Best for: Michelin-worthy seafood in a relaxed
coastal setting
You don’t have to be an oyster enthusiast to
enjoy Cornwall’s annual seafood festival but
it certainly helps. Catch some of the UK’s
best chefs, including Raymond Blanc, Nathan
Outlaw, Matt Tebbutt, Jack Stein, Phil Vickery
and Ping Coombes cooking up local delicacies
at this three-day festival.
Don’t miss the parade, which starts at the Haribo
Factory and has liquorice-inspired dancers on
stilts. Performances start at 11:30 and 14:30 at the
Cornmarket.

Getting there: You’ll 昀椀nd easy access by train
to Pontrefract or take the park and ride from
Pontefract Park.
Geared toward families as well as foodies,
there’s live music from Scissor Sisters and Kool
and the Gang, kid-friendly workshops, a gin
masterclass for the adults, and a bubble rave.
